Hi There.

I'm Johnny Francis and I need someone to share this idyllic cottage.
I'm 56 years old, separated and came to Somerset 7 years ago from Essex. I have lived at Rackley for the past 4 years. I work as a contractor in IT support for the Environment Agency based in Bristol.
My interests include acoustic music ( I co-ran The Old Down Acoustic Club before we lost our venue) computers and

The rent, electric and heating oil, rates and water rates work out at around £500 a month each for two sharing (subject to the fluctuation in fuel costs!)

Below are a few details and pictures. If you're interested please get in touch to arrange an informal interview.

Rackley Farm Cottage is situated just outside the village of Compton Bishop at the foot of Crook peak in the Mendip Hills. The area has been designated "An area of outstanding natural beauty"

Close to Cheddar, 15 minutes from Weston-Super-Mare to the West and Wells to the East and just 30 minutes drive into Bristol, 10 minutes from the M5, this location is an ideal country retreat.

It's a detached 3 bedroom cottage part of which is some 400 years old. Rackley Lane is a dead end so there are no traffic issues.

The interior was modernised in the 1990's (I think) so the kitchen has all the mod cons including a washing machine and a dishwasher. The entrance is the opposite side to the lane and looks out over the garden. As well as an entrance hall, loo and kitchen, there is also a lounge where the stairs lead up to the three bedrooms and the bathroom.

A large willow tree dominates the lovely garden, which is not too large, but big enough to enjoy. It even has a river running past the end of it which I have been known to swim in (weather permitting!)

It's surrounded by farm land which is pasture for cattle and sheep so it has kept it's farm cottage feel. The real attraction is the location. At the foot of Crook Peak, the walks are as good as anywhere in the Southwest and wildlife is abundant. I woke one morning last summer to find a Roe Deer wandering around the garden (see image below) we get lots of birds including Swans, Ducks and Moor Hen in the river, Woodpeckers (Green and Speckled) Tits, Swallows, Finchs, Jays,  Herons and  a even a Kingfisher which can been seen flying down the river, as well as blackbirds, Sparrows etc etc. Earlier this year I saw an Otter swimming up the river, but I haven't seen it since.
Below are some shots from Crook Peak, the top of which is only 30 minutes walk from the front door! It's a beautiful place, even in the winter.
